Each time I have had to install this, (due to my non-technical background) it has been an arduous process. Note that I am reading the <a href=\"http:\/\/railstutorial.org\/book\">free online Rails book<\/a> as my rails tutorial and\u00a0I&#8217;m using generic Windows 7.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Install Ruby 1.8.7<\/strong>\n<p>I\u00a0downloaded the .exe file for version <a href=\"http:\/\/rubyforge.org\/frs\/?group_id=167\">1.8.7-p302.<br \/>\n<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-593\" title=\"ruby187_w7\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rexfeng.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/ruby187_w7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"312\" height=\"439\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rexfeng.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/ruby187_w7.png 312w, https:\/\/www.rexfeng.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/ruby187_w7-106x150.png 106w, https:\/\/www.rexfeng.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/ruby187_w7-213x300.png 213w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 312px) 100vw, 312px\" \/><br \/>\n\ufeff<br \/>\nAfter googling for a few seconds, I still can&#8217;t figure out the difference between:\u00a01.8.7-p302,\u00a01.8.7-p299, and\u00a01.8.7-p249. To get to the Command Line, press the Windows Key, type &#8220;cmd&#8221; and press Enter.<\/p>\n<p>Type &#8220;ruby -v&#8221; and you should get the box below. For me, the Ruby directory would be C:\/Ruby187\/<\/p>\n<p>Open up the command line and navigate to your &#8220;rubygems-1.3.7&#8221; folder. To change directory, type in &#8220;cd&#8221; followed by the location. I went with <a href=\"http:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/msysgit\/downloads\/detail?name=Git-1.7.3.1-preview20101002.exe&amp;can=3&amp;q=\">v1.7.3.2<\/a>.
